Very shortly after hearing this piece, Chris
Mear did an actual piano improvisation based on it. Recorded
it right on the spot with the mic on his laptop! He kindly allowed
me to post it here. He called it Circumference. It's
best to stop one version before playing the other, browsers
sometimes get confused when they are both going at the same
time.
One of the
things I really like about Chris' s improv is that you can clearly
hear the original notes in it. And, it shows how dynamics, tempo
shifts, flourishes, etc. can transform a techno like piece into
one that is almost romantic sounding, even though most of the
notes are the same. Ah, the magic of music. Thanks Chris.
